XML upload
swissdamed accepts XML files that comply with EUDAMED specifications. The EUDAMED application provides various upload services, which are described in the official document: EUDAMED Services Definition.
swissdamed supports both “device service” methods for uploads, as described in the corresponding chapter:
GET service This service allows economic operators to download XML files directly from the restricted section of EUDAMED. Further information can be found in the section “Download Devices or SPPs data in a structured format (XML)” of the UDI User Guide.
POST service: This service allows manufacturers to generate the XML files themselves for a bulk upload into EUDAMED.
swissdamed does not accept other upload services supported by EUDAMED, such as the BASIC UDI-DI service.
XML files must be compatible with EUDAMED’s XSD schema version 3.0.25. The XSD schema can be downloaded from EUDAMED’s technical documentation.
The technical documentation containing all information for implementing M2M registration of devices in swissdamed is available here:
It enables interested companies to start preparing their systems for M2M connection to swissdamed. The function is not yet available on the swissdamed playground but is coming soon.
M2M registration can be tested on the swissdamed playground environment starting end of March 2026 Home | swissdamed.
To ensure that the M2M registration process has been correctly implemented, it is important that you test M2M registration on the playground before implementing M2M in the swissdamed production environment (not yet available). This onboarding activity will ensure data accuracy and prevent costly corrections to device registrations.
M2M device registration will be available in the swissdamed production environment before the device registration obligation enters into force. Please note that we may still need to make some changes to the specifications after publication for the playground and before deployment in the production Environment.
