At its meeting on 25 June 2025, the Federal Council approved the appointment of Vincenza Trivigno as the head of the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products (Swissmedic). Appointed on the recommendation of the Agency Council of Swissmedic, she will succeed Raimund Bruhin in January 2026 on his retirement.

The Federal Council approved the appointment of Vincenza Trivigno as the head of Swissmedic. Aged 54, she will succeed Raimund Bruhin, who is retiring, and take up her post in January 2026.

A native speaker of Italian and German, Vincenza Trivigno possesses extensive management experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry and Swissmedic. Since April 2021, she has been the CEO of the VAMED Switzerland group, which manages four clinics and an outpatient rehabilitation centre. She previously served as the Chancellor of the Canton of Aargau for five years, after serving successively as Secretary General of the Department of Public Health of the Canton of Zug, a member of the Board of Directors of Stadler Rail and a member of the Executive Management of Interpharma. From 2016 to 2021, she also served as Vice President of the Agency Council of Swissmedic.

Originally from Olten, Vincenza Trivigno obtained a degree in economics and social sciences from the University of Bern and an Executive Master of Business Law from the University of St. Gallen. She has also completed further training courses at the Harvard Law School and the London School of Economics.

The Agency Council believes that Vincenza Trivigno possesses the experience and all the skills required to meet the challenges currently facing Swissmedic, namely the digitalisation of tasks, strengthening cooperation with other drug regulatory authorities, the revision of the Therapeutic Products Act and the preparation of the Agency's strategy for 2027-2030.

Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, Federal Councillor and head of the Federal Department of Home Affairs, would like to express her sincere thanks to Raimund Bruhin for his work at the head of Swissmedic since 2018.
