The revised Swissmedic website is live – with a new design and a slightly modified structure. The relaunch was prompted by the switch to the new Federal Administration software for managing online content (CMS platform).
The main navigation has undergone a subject-based reorganisation (Human medicines, Veterinary medicines, Complementary and herbal medicines, Medical devices, Services, About us). An additional metanavigation in the header area provides direct access to the latest information and contact forms.
The main improvements are as follows:
- Additional service navigation in the header area
At the top right of each page there are direct links to News & Updates (direct to individual news categories), Legal matters (Legal basis/Pharmacopoeia) and Contact (thematic links to various issues)
- Direct access to selected topics
Direct links are now included on the start page and in the drop-down menu
- Extended search
A quick search option will be supplemented by an extended search function with various filtering options.
- New list of Recalls and Field Safety Corrective Actions (FSCA) for Medical devices
With immediate effect, recalls and field safety corrective actions relating to medical devices reported to Swissmedic will be published continuously (instead of once a week as is currently the case). The search results can also be exported and saved as a link: fsca.swissmedic.ch/mep
The revised content structure has new links as a result. However, all existing short links – particularly to Documents – have been taken over and will continue to work.
The new Internet platform provides the basis for future upgrades in terms of content and functionality in order to satisfy the modified requirements arising from the ongoing ordinary revision of the Therapeutic Products Act (2nd stage) and the implementing regulations (Therapeutic Products Ordinance Package IV).
