As of 1 May 2025, Jacqueline Rohrbach becomes the new Head of Human Resources and Finance, succeeding Barbara Schütz Baumgartner, who is retiring. Swissmedic would like to thank her for 34 years of enthusiastic and committed work.

As the Head of Human Resources and Finance, Jacqueline Rohrbach joins the Management Board of the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products. She arrives with extensive experience in human resource management and finance. After studying law, she initially worked for some years as a lawyer before switching to Human Resources (HR). After ten years working in Asia, she returned to Switzerland in 2011 to take up various positions in HR, both in the private sector and in public healthcare. She worked, for example, as an HR manager and member of the Management Board of the University Psychiatric Services in Bern and at the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital. Jacqueline Rohrbach led a number of fairly large teams across several hierarchical levels and was responsible for developing strategies and culture, budget planning, negotiations with social partners and digitalisation projects. She holds an international MBA and has completed advanced training courses in mediation and conflict resolution and labour law. This year she also obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Board Management. She lives in the canton of Lucerne.

34 years of commitment to therapeutic products surveillance

Jacqueline Rohrbach is taking over from Barbara Schütz Baumgartner. From 1991 to 1997, Barbara worked as a legal administrator and deputy head of the Legal and Information Service at Swissmedic's predecessor organisation, the Intercantonal Office for the Control of Medicines (IOCM). She has since headed the Human Resources Sector, which was extended in 2008 to include Finance. She will be available to her successor for a month to help with the handover and will leave Swissmedic at the end of May. In addition to her professional career, Barbara Schütz Baumgartner has also been active in public life, serving as a local councillor and head of finance in her home town of Burgdorf. She is currently president and manager of the "Restaurant Zur Gedult" cooperative and a board member of the energy supplier Localnet AG. Swissmedic would like to thank Barbara Schütz Baumgartner for over three decades of dedicated service to the Swiss healthcare system, and wishes her all the best for the next chapter in her life and her future endeavours.
