For the purposes of drug safety it is paramount for healthcare professionals to report any suspected adverse drug reactions (ADRs) to Swissmedic promptly. ElViS (Electronic Vigilance reporting System) is available for the submission of such reports. With immediate effect, reporting is now possible with a HIN identity, enabling healthcare professionals to log in with their HIN access. The existing two-factor authentication is no longer required.

Especially for COVID-19 vaccines, which are now in widespread use soon after authorisation, it is important for healthcare professionals to report suspected adverse drug reactions to Swissmedic quickly via the Electronic Vigilance- reporting System (ElViS). This applies especially to serious side effects or those that are not listed in the Information for healthcare professionals.

With ElViS, the ADR reports can be sent at the press of a button after the required details have been entered, and laboratory reports or hospital discharge reports can also be attached electronically. Since the secure transmission of the sensitive medical data is guaranteed, Swissmedic's medical specialists and the regional pharmacovigilance centres can assess the reports promptly and take any necessary measures quickly.
