Claus Bolte becomes Chief Medical Officer

Claus Bolte has taken on the newly created role of Chief Medical Officer at Swissmedic effective 1 July 2023. He will primarily develop clinical and regulatory scientific issues at a strategic level.

Claus Bolte was Head of the Authorisation Sector at Swissmedic for eight years until June 2023. Since the start of July, he has taken on the newly created role of Chief Medical Officer. He will work on clinical and regulatory scientific issues at a strategic level and follow up relevant developments at national and international level on behalf of the Executive Director and the Management Board. The role will initially be for a temporary period of two years.

Elisabeth Klenke, previously his deputy, is Head of the Authorisation Sector ad interim. Dr Bolte will remain available to her as a contact during the transition phase, but will not perform any operational tasks. The role of Head of the Authorisation Sector has been advertised.
