Haemovigilance annual report 2016

12.10.2017 - The haemovigilance annual report provides a regular update on facts and developments relating to transfusion safety.

The reporting rate rose again in 2016 and currently stands at 10.0 reports per 1,000 transfusions. Reports cover both transfusion reactions and transfusion errors, near misses, donor reactions and protective measures against infectious diseases.

The section on findings and prevention focuses on issues that have a major impact in the practical setting:

  • Transfusions in children
  • New guidelines for quality assurance in transfusion practice
  • Current information about transfusion-transmitted infections.
