In 2025, Swissmedic inspected 30 importers of medical devices as part of a focus campaign, testing 232 product samples. The results show that there is continued need for action in the areas of formal product verification, importer labelling, and storage and transport conditions.
Results of a Swissmedic focus campaign of importers

As the Swiss authorisation and supervisory authority for therapeutic products, Swissmedic is responsible for medical devices surveillance. Between March and November 2025, a focus campaign was conducted inspecting importers supplying medical devices from abroad for the Swiss market, focusing on frequently used products such as catheters, cannulas, surgical instruments and diagnostic instruments.
