Does it really contain what it says it contains?
Confiscated packages regularly contain allegedly "herbal" preparations that are suspected to contain undeclared substances dangerous to health.
Very often these are products advertised on the Internet as "natural" slimming aids or "near-natural" preparations to improve potency. Swissmedic regularly analyses such products in its Official Medicines Control Laboratory (OMCL) and publishes the results in the list below.
Many of the preparations contain significant quantities of undeclared pharmaceutical active substances, and the potential risk to health is correspondingly high.
As a general rule, Swissmedic warns against obtaining any medicinal products or medical devices from unknown sources on the Internet or from social networks. These particularly include slimming products and other supposedly natural products, frequently from Asia, that are marketed in the form of teas, instant drinks or safe capsules.
