Federal Council appoints new member of Swissmedic Agency Council

Berne, 04.12.2015

The Federal Council has appointed Vincenza Trivigno to the Agency Council of the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products, Swissmedic, for the remainder of the 2014-17 period in office. She replaces Markus Dürr, former member of the Cantonal Government of Lucerne, who is stepping down from the Council at the end of 2015.

Vincenza Trivigno was proposed for the post by the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Health Directors (GDK). The 45-year-old Secretary General of the Department of Public Health of the Canton of Zug has been appointed with effect from the start of 2016 for the remainder of the 2014-17 period in office.

Swissmedic's seven-member Agency Council is responsible for the agency's strategic direction. The Cantons have the right to propose a maximum of three members for consideration. The Council heads up the Swissmedic Management Board, which is responsible for operational management. It is chaired by Christine Beerli, Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
