The list below contains all active substances that are permitted in Switzerland as ingredients of authorized, ready-to-use medicines.

The list does not include

• Substances that are only authorized in Switzerland as pharmaceutical active substances;
• Active substances and other ingredients of medicines used in complementary medicine;

The "Distribution category" column shows the category to which the medicine containing the substance concerned has been assigned. For each medicine, the highest and lowest distribution category for the ready-to-use preparation authorized by Swissmedic is shown, with the corresponding active substance.

The third column "HAM,TAM" shows the classification of the medicinal products and the corresponding active substance as either human medicines (1) or veterinary medicines (2).

The list of substances is updated monthly.
