On 19 January 2009, Swissmedic will launch a new version of its website

Within the framework of a project, the existing Swissmedic website will be migrated to the "Imperia" content management system: a new, cutting-edge CMS solution.

As a user, you will be able to find information rapidly and intuitively. Whether you are a medical professional, an interested consumer, a patient or someone who works in the pharmaceutical industry, you will be able to find the required content easily and fast. The attractive, client-oriented site has an attractive design that makes a visit to search obtain information into a pleasant experience.

The main new features

  • The new website is based on a modern technological concept: its operation and support are guaranteed on the long term, while improvements and further developments can be made without any problem.
  • Unlike on the present website, the content will no longer be structured according to the various dialogue partners: all users will have access to the same information, without restrictions or any circuitous searches.
  • Various navigational possibilities will be available: global navigation (fields organised horizontally) and main navigation (fields to the left, organised vertically) will direct users to a view of the processes, the organisational structure and major topics such as "data on therapeutic products". Contextual navigation (to the right) will contain information on topics or content for the selected page. These navigational aids will be completed by a list of product areas: shown in full on the home page and on all other pages as a drop-down list that can be clicked on. By providing access to this product view, we are taking into consideration the fact that different users will have different ways of approaching the site.
  • By means of a full text search facility, you will quickly obtain a comprehensive list of documents or pages containing the search term used. If a large number of references are found, it will be possible to use the extended search in order to make a more targeted selection based on the initial results. Access to the pages or documents via the index supplements the search function in an ideal way.
  • The content of the website will need frequent updates. By using the "subscribe to this page", you may select any of the sections for which you would like to receive news of relevant changes by e-mail. The profile containing the pages you have subscribed to can be adjusted to your current needs at any time, or you may decide not to use this service at all.
  • Finally, you will find the answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ) in the corresponding section.

During the second half of 2009, Swissmedic will collect your impressions of the new website within the framework of a user survey. Your feedback will be noted systematically, your proposals for improving the site will be collected, tested for feasibility, and their implementation will be considered.

In the hope that we will have been able to achieve our primary purpose - that of making the information you are searching for available rapidly and in a suitable form, we wish you every pleasure when visiting the new Swissmedic website for the first time!
